The coast of Lanzarote is famous for its black lava sand beaches with almost 200 kilometers of beautiful beach coastline and 88 beaches. 30 of the beaches are black, 27 are white beaches and the other beaches are rocky. The contrast between white and black beaches characterizes the island of Lanzarote. Shoes on the beach are quite handy, because the black particles in the sand tend to make the sand red hot!
Playa Papagayo Lanzarote

In the south of Lanzarote, you will find the beautiful Papagayo beach. Papagayo is a white sandy beach that is fortunately protected. Papagayo beach is a famous beach in the summer. You’ll usually find many Spanish families on the beach and the atmosphere here is very special!
Puerto del Carmen

In this fun tourist town you will find lots of light colored sand. Here you can hire sun beds and umbrellas. There are showers and toilets and behind the beach is the promenade with shops and restaurants. This is the perfect place to chill in your sun bed and listen to some music you downloaded from Ares.
Playa de Matagorda

Near the airport you will find the Playa de Matagorda and Playa de los Pocillos. These two beaches are very popular with boaters. Even children can enjoy themselves right here, behind these two beaches you’ll see a playground that is great for keeping the little ones entertained! The rest of the beaches in Puerto del Carmen are also very suitable for children too, though.
El Golfo

The black beach at El Golfo is a real natural miracle. Not just because of the black rocky beach that can be found here either, but because you can also visit the beautiful green Crater Lake! The green lake of El Golfo seems to have a higher salinity than the Dead Sea.
Playa de Famara

Playa de Famara is a wonderful beach at the foot of a cliff. The sea is very wild and the beach is perfect for a romantic beach. You can enjoy some pretty amazing surfing here, but the strong current of the sea is not suitable for swimming.
Lanzarote Weather

Unlike many beaches you may have visited, you don’t have to worry so much about being pelted with a sandblast treatment while trying to enjoy the sun on Lanzarote beaches. Thanks to the many rocks and other natural wind screens, many of the beaches here are protected from harsh winds. You can relax under the sun in peace and enjoy some good music. Although there is a slight wind normally, but that’s a good thing to give occasional relief from the sun.
